The story begins at North Ave Beach in Chicago. Kendel and Billy had mutual friends who put together a co-ed beach volleyball team. Billy was in it to win it, while Kendel was more into sitting in the sand with a cold beer. Luckily they were equally as passionate about hanging out at the team-sponsored bar after the game, which is where their friendship developed. By the end of the season Kendel and Billy were dating!
It was the early days of quarantine when the grocery stores were still running low on toilet paper. It was also Easter. For the latter reason, we planned a zoom call with both of our families. Unknown to Kendel, Billy had snuck to the jeweler to pick up the ring a few days prior. Billy went to "check on something in the kitchen" when Kendel's brother suggested they play a game. Everyone then held up a sign that read Kendel - will - you - marry (in the correct order thanks to some sneaky texts from Billy) and Kendel turned around to Billy on one knee with a signs that read ME?
