Matt and I originally met in October of 2022 and went on a couple of dates, but things fizzled out. That following year, we both experienced a lot of personal and spiritual growth and got to a place where we we wanted to date again. In December of 2023, my roommate and Matt's friend asked us both if we wanted to be set up with someone. When my roommate told me about Matt, she described him as an awesome friend of hers who loved the Lord, was very mission-minded, led worship, and loved hiking. He sounded like the perfect guy for me! I told her I was open to it, not remembering I already knew him. When she told Matt about me, he remembered that we had met before, but was open to trying again. He couldn't remember any reasons why we stopped talking, and remembered feeling sad when things fizzled out the first time. When she reminded me that we had met before, I thought back and couldn't remember why we stopped talking either! For our *second* first date, we went to the Broadmoor and walked around for three hours catching up and talking about life and theology. Our connection was very natural and the more we talked, the more we realized we had in common. The next morning, I spent some time journaling about all the things I noticed about him, and a couple of days later when I came back to that journal entry, I realized he was exactly the kind of man I had been looking and praying for. Matt had a similar experience, where he realized that I was the kind of woman that he had been looking and praying for. It felt abundantly clear to both of us very early on that this was a relationship that would last. We have felt God's hand in our entire relationship and are so excited to begin a life serving the Lord together. We got engaged on April 27th in Green Mountain Falls, the same town we'll be holding the ceremony in, and could not be more excited to begin our lives together. We can't wait to celebrate with you all on September 21st!
