Our story began freshman year at Texas A&M, when Kendall’s neighbor in Hullabaloo Hall, Jackson Fisher, introduced her to his childhood friend, Matthew. At the time, Matt was attending Texas A&M Galveston, but after transferring to College Station his sophomore year, he became a familiar face whenever Kendall was around Jackson. They were friendly, casual acquaintances, but there was nothing more to it. That changed senior year, when Kendall’s Theta friends hosted a “Blind Date Night.” Kendall hesitated (as one does), signed up late, and almost didn’t go at all—but something nudged her to say yes. On the other side, Matt had also been invited and very nearly skipped it himself. Neither of them knew they were being set up until the door opened and there they were, face to face. Matt took Kendall to Sonic and Aggie Park to fish, where they talked for hours about their interests, their families, and God's work in their lives . They didn’t catch any fish, but Matt likes to joke he caught “the love of his life.” After two months of dates and late-night conversations, Matt officially asked Kendall to be his girlfriend after REVO formal, in the early morning hours of December 1, 2023. College dating quickly filled up with Theta and REVO date parties, Carney’s Tuesdays, Aggie football games, and Sunday mornings at Restoration. Then came a big plot twist: in spring 2024, Kendall was accepted to Georgetown, sending her to Washington, D.C. for two years. Matt cheered her on without hesitation, and together they committed to long distance. Their time in D.C. was filled with sports games, Eastern Market strolls, Off the Record visits, long walks through Georgetown, and cooking up seafood from the Wharf—proving that love (and FaceTime) really can span time zones. In January 2025, Matt’s family faced a hard season when his younger brother, Michael, was diagnosed with leukemia. Matt showed up for his family with unwavering strength and faith, while Kendall supported from afar. In September 2025, Matt donated his stem cells to his brother, and the transplant grafted successfully. Today, Michael is cancer-free! And we are praising God for His faithfulness, His grace, and His goodness. Right before Kendall moved back to Texas in November 2025, Matt got down on one knee near Kendall’s grandparents’ home on a bluff in Wimberley, Texas, on a piece of land where Kendall’s great-grandfather built Pioneer Town decades ago. Growing up, Kendall spent countless days there with her cousins—playing in the arcade, wandering through the old buildings, and getting ice cream after long afternoons exploring. Because the place holds so many of her family’s memories, it was the perfect setting for the start of their next chapter. Matt surprised her by gathering their closest friends and family in the cantina where Kendall had birthday parties growing up, turning the moment into a weekend full of love, happy tears, and celebration. It was the best day of their lives! Now both back in Houston (finally!), Kendall and Matt are soaking up everyday moments together—having game nights, trying new food spots, going to First Baptist Church, and laughing until their bellies hurt. They’re deeply thankful that God brought them together and can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives choosing each other, every single day!
