They both knew it was time to find love. Kendall and Harley each took a chance and joined Hinge-- a dating app. They matched and quickly realized they had a lot in common. So much so that they would have met in person at a mutual friend's party only a few weekends after first meeting on Hinge! Their first date was in February 2025 at Rail Haus in Dover, DE. The two enjoyed drinks and talking all about their lives in medicine-- from Kendall's background as a family medicine physician and Harley's background as an urology PA-C. They talked about their loves from dogs to gardening to LEGO, as well as their appreciation for candor and not wasting any time! Were they headed for a second date, or not?! From there, the two headed to Brecknock County Park to walk Kendall's dog, Lego, and talk more about life. Things were, you could say, headed for a third date and beyond! The dinner dates and gatherings with friends continued into the Spring when they decided their "first anniversary" would be March 10, 2025. Their first year together gifted them the safest, most consistent love either of them had ever known. They shared endless soul-searching conversations that were just as balanced by lighthearted moments. Kingsley, their second dog, came into their life in the Spring of 2025. By July 2025, they started to meet each other's family and even more friends. By December 2025, they celebrated their first Christmas together and collected their first annual Christmas tree ornament. In March 2026, they knew what the future held. They knew the next pages of this chapter would include many exciting moments such as designing an engagement ring, moving in together, and more! In Spring 2026 they enjoyed even more travels with family, weekends with friends, garden and mansion tours, movie watching, and stand up comedy-- a new enjoyment for Harley! The two of them were smitten as they realized they were birds of a feather.
Harley had designed her dream ring but had no idea when a proposal would occur. They were planning a weekend in Lewes, DE with their friends in June 2026, but by that Saturday morning, Kendall told Harley that she did not need to put on sunscreen at 8:30am because they were in fact not heading to Lewes (it's a very Harley-thing to be prepared so sunscreen early made sense!) The only instruction Kendall gave was for Harley to put on an outfit she felt beautiful in and to be ready in an hour. Kendall left to wash the car (and probably shake off some nerves!) They began heading north on Route 1, and if you know Delaware, that could take you anywhere! Were they going to Longwood Gardens? Winterthur or Nemours? Wait-- signs for New York City and Wildwood, NJ?! Kendall continued to say "you *may* know where we are going!" Did Harley pay any attention to that? No. Eventually, signs for Cape May, NJ appeared and the excitement began. Harley had never been to Cape May, however, as soon as they approached the perfect seaside village, she knew she had found paradise. Victorian mansions in a quaint seaside town? Painted ladies in shades of pink, yellow, and green surrounded by gardens? Her heart fluttered. Kendall knows her well. Plus, Kendall also loves a unique and welcoming historic area so it was bound to be delightful! They checked into the oceanfront hotel and soon after, Kendall suggested they check out the sundeck. Kendall held Harley as they looked over the ocean pointing to familiar Delaware Bay beaches. They oriented themselves to the gorgeous Atlantic ocean and town while enjoying the view. Kendall mentioned that they needed something to celebrate, and Harley agreed they had a lot to celebrate! And then, before her eyes; time stopped, the world quieted, and Kendall got down on one knee and proposed to Harley as they committed to a once-in-a-lifetime love. Yes, they both cried and embraced, and cried happy tears some more! They shared the news with their closest friends and family members, enjoyed champagne, then were off to enjoy the rest of the blissful weekend! Their first dinner as fiances was at 410 Bank Street Restaurant which was thoroughly enjoyed and led to tourist souvenir shopping for their second annual Christmas tree ornament! The pair enjoyed pool time, midnight snacks, and morning beach time before mini golf (Kendall scored two hole-in-ones) and lunch at Fish House. By Sunday afternoon, it was time to take the Cape May - Lewes ferry back home to Delaware to settle in and begin planning the rest of forever!
