At the age of 7 I dedicated my life to God and promised I would wait to experience the “good stuff”. OMG I had no idea how hard that would be on dating! Fast forward to high school I struggled so much, hormones were rushing everywhere and everyone was talking about and experimenting with the very thing I was trying to avoid. While I did date, I realized most of the time it wasn’t getting far without the “good stuff” so I just stayed alone in my room and stared at the wall, and in the back of my mind I heard my conscience call. Ok those aren’t my words shout out to LL lol. May 2013 I graduated into the Air Force, while excited and immensely grateful for this huge blessing I still wanted to meet the one. Stationed at Scott Air Force Basr, deployed to Doha,Qatar which is a beautiful country, not knowing Kendall and I were deployed around the same time! In June 2017 I got stationed to Ft Gordon in Augusta,Georgia. It is not typical for Air Force to be stationed at an Army base but I figured well it can’t be to bad since the dating scene in Illinois wasn’t the greatest! When I moved here I intently started praying for that special guy. I always knew I wanted someone, but wasn’t that serious about it until then. When I say God works in mysterious ways! I moved to Augusta on 9 June 2017. I met Kendall a month later on 13 July 2017. The week I met Kendall I had already been stood up twice so I was not in the mood to meet another guy, plus I was told to watch out for Army guys because they are CRAZY but he was special. He was so sweet and took the time to get to know me. He was a Christian too so we had similar connections and stories! We also shared similarities of dealings with racism & sexism in the military and how we overcame so much just to get where we are. We have been inseparable since the day we met. On 31 March 2018 he proposed, I said YES! God has been so good to us and we remind others to never grow weary in well doing and God will always fulfill His promises!
I graduated from Westpoint in 2013. I was excited to start my career and excited to find a relationship that would lead to marriage. Seeing the example that was set for me by my parents, I valued companionship. I was first stationed in Fort Hood,Texas, a great career starter but not for relationships. On December 27, 2014 I listened to a message by Dr. Tony Evans about finding a mate. That night I prayed and wrote what I wanted in a Godly woman. Telling myself that one day I would share my note with my wife, knowing that God would bless me with her. A few years pass, I am promoted to Captain and stationed in Fort Gordon,Georgia. I told my friend Carlos, I’m looking for a Godly woman that I can grow with, has her own goals, and we can support each other. He had someone in mind that he deployed with in Qatar. He invited Candace over to his place on 13 July 2017. This beautiful 5’9, dove chocolate skin, gracious woman walked in and blessed us with her presence. She had so much melanin beauty dripping off of her and all I could think was “play it cool man” but my mind was playing the song “This Magic Moment” by The Drifters. I introduced myself in the most smooth and debonair way possible, lol I hope. Our conversation was so profound and thought provoking, a cross-pollination of ideas and values that led me to believe that not only was she beautiful, but also a virtuous woman. We spent time together every day from that point on. We went to church together, we prayed together, and did things I never thought I would do. After meeting Candace’s WHOLE family on both her mom and dad's side, surviving the interrogations and torture tactics, it was clear how special of a woman she was. The rest is history! Like my man said in Bringing Down the House “the cool points are out the window and you got me all twisted up in the game boo” Lol. You’re an answered prayer, and the bible says that when a man finds a wife, he obtains favor. AND I like the flavor of that favor. Drops mic!
