It's my 19th birthday! Even though we were in the middle of a pandemic, I planned a big ole party. That morning my mom, Gracie, Jaci & I made jello shots and we got the yard and coolers of alcohol all set up. Mid morning I went over to bare ass beach to hang out with Kenna, Shay & their fam. Keith (Stamper) comes up to me and says "hey Lex! There were some good lookin' boys over here awhile ago, they look like they're from Baywatch with their long hair & 8 pack! I told them to do a hair flip for me." Of course I said "well where are they? Should I invite them to my party?" Keith "I would. They're hot." That was all the encouragement I needed. From that point on I was set on inviting the 'Baywatch guys on the bright blue Super Air Nautique' to my birthday party. Too many drinks later I went home - courtesy of my amazing mom who came to get (find) me. My sister Cass & some of our friends took our boat, decked out in 4th of July decorations, out for some wakesurfing. Guess who else happened to be out wakesurfing over by the South shore?? YUPPP da boys from Baywatch! The whole time we were waving back & forth as we drove past each other. I wanted to drive up on the surf board, but Cass was smart & shut down the idea because of boat traffic. Fast forward a tad. We parked our boat & my sisters & I took out my Aunt Holly's pontoon instead because more friends were wanting to come out on the water. After jumping out in the middle and playing music loud enough for the entire lake to enjoy, we start heading back towards home & see the blue Nautique just floating, no one surfing at the moment. My immediate thought? Prime opportunity. "Cass! Stop I need to invite them to my party!" "Lex wtf? Do you even know them?" "No. But one of the guys on there could be my future husband!" (I am not shitting you when I tell you that I said this. Ask Cassidy & Ava.) Cass: "We're not stopping." me *jumps off moving boat & proceeds to swim up to the front of the blue Nautique* Context: I was intoxicated. Jakob Hoyt jumped in after me probably to join in on the fun or make sure I didn't drown. Or both. (Also! Jakob has talked to these guys briefly before on Snapchat because he lived across from their grandparents on the North end of the lake) Honestly, I don't remember exactly what I said but I do know I told them my name & where my party was that night. I do remember talking to Kendall though because he was even hotter up close so I was freakin out a little. Fast forward again. Many games of slip n slide flip cup, fireworks, cheeseballs & drinks later who shows up??? Kendall, Cal & Maddy. At 11 pm. What's the first thing I do you ask? Shove Strawberry flavored Malibu down their throats and send them down the slip n slide of course! Cal gets sucked into the party & I bring Maddy into the house with me to help me clean up the cut I got on my a$$ from the slip n slide. I knew right then and there we were soul sisters. She was so kind & willing to help me seal up a cut on my butt after only 5 minutes of knowing me LOL. She is now a registered nurse! Maddy, Amaya, Brad, Kendall and I sat on the steps outside of the house & talked for hours. I felt such a connection. There was no doubt in my body that this moment was meant to be. That God had a hand in all of it.
4th of July, my favorite weekend of the year (and has since become my favorite for a couple more reasons) I take off work at the last minute and basically quit my job to go Up North earlier. Excited to get up to my family, the fun, and paradise, I head right up. We spend our days on the water/boat, and nights around the campfire, and little did I know there was another family that did just the same. I remember seeing “the boat” out on the water late that morning, and I took every chance I could get to wave at “the girl”. I remember saying something to someone on Cal & Nate’s (Paul and Michelle’s) boat every time I saw the other SuperAir Nautique, and I bet I got annoying. “There it is again” “Look at the girls” “We have to meet up with them” During our middle of the day lake shower, I see a pontoon driving by, and all of the sudden there is a beautiful girl swimming up to us. So I watch and wait to see what she does. She proceeds to invite us to her birthday party later that day. I think most of the people on the boat were shocked, but I just remember thinking “I want to go to that party.” We go back to the cabin and there isn’t much action or energy, we all think it may be from the excessive drinking and partying, but later find out it is from COVID. I kept getting snapchat messages from Jack Hoyt about “the party” and I was trying to get someone to go with me since nothing was going on by us (we all had COVID and so did the Shullen’s). I wanted to go, but nobody else did, until Maddy said “I will drive you if someone else wants to go” So I excitedly ask again “Does anyone else want to go?” And Cal says (and if you are lucky enough to know Cal you will be able to hear him say this) “F*ck it, I’ll go with” I packed a cooler and we were off, not really knowing where to go. We park by the mass of cars and walk up to the huge party. I see Alexa and am immediately drawn to her (maybe because she ran up to us with a bottle of strawberry Malibu). We get a tour, I meet her Dad (my future father-in-law) as he is playing beer pong, and later on Alexa and I sit on the patio and talk for awhile, could have been hours for all I know. There was such a connection and it felt so special. I am so thankful for those 5 words that Cal said, because that is why that night happened. I left, thankfully with Alexa’s Snapchat, knowing that wouldn’t be the end of our time together. It was only the beginning, I was already attached. Right when we got to the cabin, I went straight to the corner by Mary’s wifi to Snapchat Alexa. The next morning, I wanted to go back, but we had to clean, pack, and leave. I told everyone about the night and the new girl I had just met. I was excited and eager to talk to her, I kept my phone by me, waiting for the name “Alexa” to pop up on it. I remember telling Elliott multiple times on the car ride home after excitedly smacking him on the arm or chest “Elliott, she just snapped me!”
