Over the course of our relationship, we have prayed that God would sustain us and our foundation through so many years of long distance. He surpassed those prayers and even strengthened us through it. Alden and I met through social media (typical, I know) back in 2015 and through a mutual friend. After flirting through Instagram DMs, we quickly began texting and forming a Snapchat streak. On our first date, Alden asked me to be his girlfriend. I was so nervous and so excited to begin this new relationship with this super cute baseball and football player from another high school, but I had no idea that I had started dating my future husband on that day, March 13, 2015. We began our relationship doing distance. I attended Ocean Springs High School. Alden attended Pascagoula High School. I attended the University of Southern Mississippi. Alden got a baseball scholarship at MGCCC Perkinston, then at the University of South Alabama, then at the University of West Florida. If you would have told me when I was fifteen years old that we would sustain our relationship over 8 years, through the hundreds of miles that separated us… through the tough times— but even brighter times— I would have never believed you. Over the years, lots of things have changed in our lives. We have grown up together, fallen in love, gotten degrees, moved to different cities. But through all of these life events, one thing has never changed for either one of us— we have never given up on each other, and we have never once stopped loving each other. I think we have both known in our hearts for a long time that God put us together for a reason. We can’t wait to love each other for the rest of our lives.
