Getting to Siena

Florence's Firenze-Peretola Airport (FLR)

Florence is the closest airport to Siena (approximately an hour by bus). Take a short taxi to Florence's main bus station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella, where tickets can be purchased for daily departures.

Pisa's Galileo Galilei International Airport (PSA)

Pisa is approximately two hours from Siena with both bus and train access to the city. We recommend taking the bus. Get tickets inside the airport after baggage claim, near the cafes and exit.

Rome's Leonardo da Vinci - Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Though Rome is further away (approximately three hours), it also has both train and bus access to Siena. We would recommend taking a bus to Siena. Get tickets at the Tiburtino bus station in Rome for daily departures to Siena.

Bus & Train Info

If arriving by train, get off at Siena's Railway Station (Stazione di Siena) which is just outside the walled city center. Take a five minute taxi inside the city walls to your hotel. If arriving by bus, it may continue inside the city walls to Siena's central bus station, Piazza Gramsci (pronounced Grawm-shee). From here, your hotel should be within walking distance. If the bus does not continue into the city center, get off when the bus stops at the railway station, then take a taxi to your hotel. When boarding the bus, we recommend you ask if the bus will go to Piazza Gramsci. If not, then you know to get off at the train station.

For more convenience, you can request a driver to pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. If you wish to avoid any hassles of navigating the bus system, this option would be great. Anticipate the cost being more than a typical bus ticket, though.
