A bit further drive to the coast, it's an amazing state park with a beach (kayaking), great hiking in a lush canyon with redwoods and ferns. We also highly recommend stopping at the unique Pygmy Forest!
This incredible coastal park is about 1 hr drive away near the town of Mendocino.
For those of you staying on site, the pond is a great hike.
