FIRST MEETING
OCT 19, 2013
Michael and Sarah were introduced by Morgan Hinton (Michael’s astronomy class partner and Sarah’s floormate) at the Concordia College Johnny Holmes homecoming concert. Sarah immediately thought Michael was funny and Michael immediately thought he needed to date Sarah. It wasn’t until days later that Michael asked Morgan for Sarah’s number.
FIRST DATE
NOV 16, 2013
Michael and Sarah went to the Drunken Noodle in downtown Fargo for their first date. Michael lied to Sarah and told her the restaurant didn’t have forks so that he could attempt to teach her how to use chopsticks. Halfway through the date Sarah discovered the restaurant did in fact have forks. To this day, Sarah still cannot effectively use chopsticks.

After two months of dating, Michael asked Sarah to officially be his girlfriend.
FIRST TRIP
FEB 26, 2016
In 2016, Sarah went to Washington DC to study and work at the Department of State for a semester. Michael took his first solo flight overcoming his fear of flying to go visit her marking their first official trip as a couple.
FIRST HAWAII TRIP
Feb 27, 2017
For spring break 2017, Michael took Sarah to his first home, Oahu, for a packed week of both local and touristy activities. While Sarah fell in love with Hawaii, she also received the worst sunburn of her life. Michael has since learned the importance of reminding Sarah to reapply sunscreen throughout the day.
COLLEGE GRADUATION
MAY 5, 2017
Michael and Sarah graduate from Concordia College. Michael with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with minors in Math and Communications. Sarah with Bachelor's Degrees in Communications and Political Science with a minor in Spanish.
MICHAEL GOES TO GRAD SCHOOL
AUG 17, 2017
In the Fall of 2017, Michael left for South Dakota State University for grad school which kicked off two years of back and forth for the couple between the Twin Cities and Brookings, SD.
FIRST FLORIDA TRIP
NOV 7, 2020
Even with a worldwide pandemic in 2020, Michael made his first Kemp family trip to Marco Island, Florida - a very special place for the Kemp Family who travels there annually. Despite being greeted by Hurricane Eta, Michael enjoyed the warmth and all the seafood.
FIRST HOME
SEPT 11, 2021
On September 11, 2021, Sarah and Michael moved into their first home in Bloomington.
FIRST DOG
SEPT 25, 2022
After a year of living together, Michael and Sarah welcomed their first dog – Cerus Shadow Kemp-Miguel – a 4 yr old German Shepherd mix who is the best boy (although highly anxious and protective).
ENGAGED!
OCT 7, 2023
Just shy of 10 years of going through life together, Michael asked Sarah to marry him at Taylor’s Falls in a surprise proposal.
