Turns out, Josh and Rachel's story actually starts way back in January of 2013. One chilly Sunday in the cafeteria of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Josh and Rachel come across one another for the very first time while participating in a youth ministry retreat activity called "Warm and Fuzzies." (A very fitting name as it was the first time Josh ever gave Rachel the warm and fuzzies!) In this activity, participants walked around with balls of yarn tied around their necks and had to tie pieces of strings from their yarn balls onto another person's lanyard of yarn around their neck. After the strings were tied, you then had to hug the person! 13 year old Rachel was a little too nervous thinking about the impeding hug that Josh actually had to tie his own piece of string onto his own lanyard; Rachel couldn't quite maintain control of her shaking fingers. After Josh tied his own string, they hugged and that was that. However, that would not be the end for Rachel. She decided to take matters into her own hands and send a Facebook message to Josh after the retreat was over. The message would fall upon deaf ears - for two years!! Until a message popped up in Rachel's inbox January 31st, 2015. Rachel and Josh began talking to each other here and there via Facebook messenger for a couple months, but low and behold this was not the right timing for the pair. Yes the Facebook messages still exist to this day! Rachel and Josh fell out of contact and continued living their separate lives throughout high school and college. Although, it has since been admitted by both Rachel and Josh that they each shared mutual crushes on the other throughout their time in highschool youth group. Fast forward to 2022. With a little help from divine intervention, as the couple lived nowhere near each other, Rachel and Josh rekindled their spark after matching together online. Someone was in the right virtual place at the right virtual time! Josh decided to take Rachel out to Twisted Tree Steakhouse for their very first date. Within the month of December 2022, Rachel and Josh also shared some margs at El Burro Loco and visited Anheuser Buch for their annual Christmas lights display. After the culmination of these three dates Rachel knew Josh was the one for her and Josh was scared beyond belief thinking Rachel could be the one for him as well. Knowing he wanted to work on some things first, Josh sent Rachel a message breaking things off on New Years. That lasted a solid month and a half until Josh messaged Rachel on the night of the Superbowl 2023 during Rhianna's iconic performance. After being ghosted for a month and a half, Rachel replied to Josh's message in a matter of one minute - because when you know you know! After a couple more dates, endless conversations, and non stop banter the couple became official 3/3/2023 & the rest is history.
