Golden is a city and former gold rush town at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Clear Creek Trail is one of our favorite places to visit in favorable weather. We've spent many afternoons strolling the paved walkway and even floating the river. This would be a great spot to grab a coffee and enjoy a gentle walk! Golden is home to the Coors Brewery, and northeast of the city is the Colorado Railroad Museum, which features vintage trains and an 1800s-style railroad depot.
Our go-to mountain stop! On the way back from skiing or a long weekend, Georgetown is a cute mountain town 45min outside of the front range. Sitting at 8520', Georgetown is a great area to check out Colorado's fall colors. If you have time, Guanella Pass makes a scenic mountain drive, and the base of Mt. Bierstadt, one of Colorado's 14ers, sits on top. The Georgetown Loop Railroad is also a fun time! A good idea to book ahead.
