I met Christel during my freshman year of college. I remember one of our very first conversations was via Facebook Messenger and he asked me if I wanted to be in a pageant that his fraternity was hosting. ANYONE who knows me will understand how hilarious it is that he asked me to be in a pageant. After politely declining his invitation, Christel and I didn't speak much again until I ran into him, one afternoon, outside of the campus dining hall. He proceeded to, quite awkwardly, ask me if I wanted to see the new Kevin Hart movie with him. I decided to give Christel a chance and we saw the movie that night. On the date it was clear that Christel was thoroughly enjoying the movie, while I was much less entertained. While watching the movie, I could tell that Christel probably thought that I was totally boring with no sense of humor, but I just couldn’t make myself laugh (y’all the movie really wasn’t that funny!). After the date we went our separate ways, and I didn't expect to ever hang out with him again. Until....the next day after deciding to go out with a few friends, we ran into Christel and he ended up coming with us. We spent most of that night together and had a blast! After that night, I realized this was really someone I could have a great time with and, well, the rest is history.

Erika and I met almost seven years ago in college; she was a freshman and I was a junior. While we kind of knew each other through mutual friends, our first conversations occurred early in the spring semester when we were put on the same group during a community service event organized by our school. We chatted for a little bit over the course of the day but that was about it. Our next conversation was via Facebook Messenger. I asked for her number, which she graciously allowed me to have. My exact words were, “Ayeee lemme get your number, i wanna ask you something…plus I would just like to have it”. Hahaha yeah, I know. I didn’t end up crossing paths with her again until one afternoon a couple of weeks later. The movie “About Last Night” had just come out and I REALLY wanted to see it. So that afternoon after I walked out of the dining hall, I saw Erika, and got the bright idea to ask her to the movies. Much to my delight, she agreed. That night, I had a blast watching the movie. On the other hand, she didn’t seem to be enjoying herself; from the look on her face in the moments that I would discreetly glance over at her, I could tell that she was NOT amused. I remember thinking to myself, “WELP. I guess this is gonna go nowhere. How is she not laughing at this?? She must not have any sense of humor…how unfortunate. Oh well.” (I later learned that she DOES have a great sense of humor, it is just drastically different from my crude sense of humor haha.) Honestly, the only saving grace of that night is that we ran into LeBron James at the theater. That’s Miami for ya. We had practically fizzled out before we had gotten to know each other. While we probably wouldn’t have gone on another date, God had other plans. The next night, after a series of great coincidences, I ended up going out with her and a group of her friends. Erika and I spent the rest of that night together, dancing, laughing, and having a great time. After that, nothing was the same!
