This is our story from my (Albert’s) point of view. Back in 2022, I found out about a Christian singles matchmaking Instagram page called KellysKornerSingles, introduced to me by my friend, Mary. After scrolling through the Instagram page for a good hour, I saw Kelsey’s post on the page. She seemed passionate for Jesus and really cute and seeing that her post was still up, I sent her a direct message. She initially responded to my first message and then I did not hear from her for another three weeks. I vividly remember getting her second response when I was kicking footballs with Pastor Brad in late October 2022. You could say the rest is history… We kept talking from the fall of 2022 through the summer of 2023 and had our first in-person date in February of 2023 in Nashville when I was visiting Vanderbilt to tour their MBA program. Kelsey visited me in Columbus in July of 2023, right before I left for Georgetown (where I decided to go to business school) and that is when we decided to make it official and I asked her to be my girlfriend. The not so fun part of our relationship is that we dated long-distance the whole time, but somehow, we made it work. There was plenty of travel between Lawrence, DC, Nashville, Houston, Telluride, and Columbus. We enjoyed our time together by visiting new Korean cafes, snowboarding in Colorado (and petting the Smith’s dog Dixie), going on walks to coffee shops, trips to the Korean grocery store HMart (especially my favorite one in Fairfax, VA because it has the best food hall), and going to KC Royals and KU Jayhawk games. I vividly remember one day in January 2024, we were eating some sullangtang (a popular Korean soup) at Gom Tang E after Kelsey helped me film some field goal attempts when I first brought up the idea of marriage. Fast forward 8 months and I’m on one knee proposing to Kelsey in the Japanese Garden at the Hillwood Estate in DC. And now you are reading this today. We can’t wait to celebrate with you in August!
