Kelsey and Eric met through mutual friends during a summer internship in Indianapolis. A few months after returning to Indy following college graduation, Eric asked Kelsey out for their first date. The date went well, but they determined that it was better if they stayed just friends at that time. They continued to hang out in groups of friends and often found themselves gravitating towards each other. About six months later, they started to think they should try again. Kelsey eventually worked up the courage to ask Eric on a second first date in June of 2016, hoping he still felt the same way. Thank goodness he did!

On their third date, Kelsey and Eric brought a hammock and a bottle of wine to White River State Park where they spent the evening literally "hanging out" and watching the sunset over the Indy skyline. The date quickly became one of their favorites, and in each of the past five years, Kelsey and Eric have recreated their "Hammock Date". On the 5th annual Hammock Date, they once again brought a bottle of wine, their favorite local pizza (Greek's Pizzeria!), and a hammock to their spot on the White River—only this time Eric brought a little something extra. When they finished dinner and were setting up to hang, Eric removed the ring from its hiding spot in the hammock and got down on one knee. Kelsey said "Yes!"—although Eric had to confirm later because he was too excited in the moment to register the response. They can't wait to have many more Hammock Dates to come as husband and wife.
