How We Met

The Bride: It was just a regular day at Plant Vogtle when I had met the “new” guy, who was going to be helping us receive and issue pipe supports. No one knew he was coming except for the managers. Like any other day, I was in the warehouse receiving in a huge shipment of couplers at the time, unaware of his existence. It was hot outside, so I was sweating and covered in grease and dust. Not looking my best at all. When I had finished my work and was heading back to my desk, I was stopped by another coworker, Booker, to meet the new guy on the warehouse crew. It was Rusty Trent Smith. I was so embarrassed by how dirty I looked that I barely made eye contact and gave him the “dead fish” handshake. Needless to say, I thought he was very handsome and here I was drenched in sweat. I hurried back to my desk where I then told my girlfriends from work (Dasha, Amber, Mandy, and Kristen) what had happened and how embarrassed I was. Well as each day when by, Rusty always found ways to help me with big shipments inside the warehouse. I was used to working alone and doing all the heavy lifting by myself but then he came around and lifted a lot of that strenuous work off my hands. But Little did he know, he didn’t only help at work, but during that time in my life, he also helped me forget what was going on with me during that time. I was a single parent and completely heartbroken that my first sons father had left me during such a beautiful, life-changing event. I felt poorly of myself and my self-confidence was close to non existence. Until Rusty came into my life. He made me feel beautiful and listened when I needed someone to talk to. He then became the father figure for my first son Braven. He stepped up to the plate when he didn’t have to. He loves him as if he were his own. Now, we have another son together, Braxton, who he’s an amazing father to him as well. God answered my prayers. My family is now complete! Rusty stole my heart and I’m stealing his last name!
