In 2011, on a warm September evening in Denton TX, a 20-year-old Kelsey found herself tagging along to a party with some new friends she had made in her dorm and classes at The University of North Texas. The event was being held at a house that had been nicknamed “The Red Barn” (yes, it looked exactly like it sounds), and was filled with some of the greatest people one would ever hope to meet, including Ross Beerer. It was not love at first sight, but this 23-year-old, tuba-playing, UNT band-marching, video game-loving, bearded man definitely piqued her interest. This of course was after the cliché moment of making eye contact with one another from across the room, and Ross taking the first steps towards his D E S T I N Y. Although he denies it, it was definitely love at first sight for him. Rather it was love very early on when Kelsey understood a nerdy joke/image Ross did not believe she would understand (Star Trek cookies decorated in red uniforms), and quickly realized the closet nerd gem that she was. With her love for his vast knowledge, and caring, compassionate soul, and his love for her wit, charm, and at times goofball nature, they made Ross Ross a possibility on February 23rd 2012

Downtown Denton Square is a place where Ross, and Kelsey had many of their date nights while they both resided in Denton, and did for only a couple more years after Kelsey graduated from the University. Anyone who knows Kelsey understands her love for Christmas. When this woman takes down her Halloween decorations, the Christmas decor goes up. So what better place for Ross to ask for her hand than the Denton Square Tree Lighting Festival?! As the tree lighting countdown began, and with Kelsey's focus on the Tree, Ross proceeded to get down on one knee, and wait for her to turn around to find yet another reason to absolutely love this time of year. Additionally, Ross made sure Kelsey's Parents, Sister, and closest friend's ( near and out of state) were there to finally witness the moment they too had anxiously waited for.
