Lonnie and I met during our freshman year of college at Arizona State University at the end of August 2009. We lived on the same floor at Hassyampa freshman dorm, in which we swapped ‘hellos’ as we passed each other frequently in the hallways. The first time I saw him I remember trying to not let him catch me locking eyes with him as we passed as I was shy around him. My first long interaction with him was right outside my dorm room in the hallway in which Lonnie was drinking from a carton of egg nog as we talked. It wasn’t until sophomore year at ASU that we started spending time together. Lonnie had since moved off campus with our friend, Tim. I moved into the sophomore dorm in which Lonnie would frequently visit and do homework with me while we ate Red Baron frozen pizza. We came to find that our personal interests and hobbies were very different but we enjoyed each others company. We had a bond from the beginning that was so effortless and natural. We got to know each other as close friends before we considered dating exclusively. Lonnie and I have been together for 7 years this coming September. Lonnie graduated from ASU with his bachelor’s degree in 2013 and continued working for Bank of America. Kelsey graduated two years later from ASU and moved to Missouri to continue her education at Logan College of Chiropractic. They remained in a relationship with each other through the four and a half years that they lived apart. Lonnie frequently visited me in Missouri every chance he could, even if it was for less than 48 hours. The distance challenged our relationship but we came out of it strong always concluding that we wanted to be together despite growing apart. Since graduating from Chiropractic college Kelsey moved back to Arizona in Spring of 2019. Lonnie proposed two years ago, in which I promptly agreed and we eventually bought a home together in Chandler, AZ.
