Nashville is known for its country music, wild bachelorette scene and world famous hot chicken. What is less well known but that we've subsequently discovered is that hotels are crazy expensive in the city. For the benefit of you guys, our guests, we've ceaselessly pestered the group booking departments of every upscale hotel in the Nashville metro area, and have come up with what we think are two great deals to serve as bases for your weekend. The first is the Thompson, which we've already finalized and is open for booking. We are also finishing up an arrangement with the Hutton. These two properties offer the best balance of price and quality, and is where the shuttle buses to and from Cedarwood will be stopping. Additionally, we recognize these options may be on the pricier side, so have listed some AirBnb neighborhood recommendations if this is an avenue you prefer to pursue. Lastly, Uber / Lyft are plentiful and cheap, so we would recommend that over renting a car.

Hotel

Thompson Nashville

401 11th Avenue South
Nashville, TN 37203
 (615) 262-6000

The Thompson Hotel group runs a collection of boutique properties in the US, Canada and Mexico. They're generally branded as "The Thompson (X City)" except in NYC, where Thompson apparently isn't aristocratic-sounding enough so they have to go with even more high-born names like "Smyth" or "Beekman". This iteration of Thompson is located in the Gulch, which from what we hear is very trendy. The lobby of the hotel is 21st century mid-century aesthetics at its finest, the rooms offer plush beds and vintage freestanding tubs and last but not least, there's a rooftop bar "for porch sippin’ cocktails, twenty regional brews and spectacular views from downtown Nashville to SoBro" (no kidding, I cribbed that from their website.) Rates are $290 / night for Neighborhood kings and an extra $30 for the doubles iteration. The cut off for these preferential rates is February 21. This will be one of two shuttle bus stops.

Hotel

Hutton Hotel

1808 West End Avenue
Nashville, TN 37203
 (615) 340-9333

Branded as Nashville's "original lifestyle hotel," the Hutton recently completed a major renovation, and now looks like the Thompson (i.e. very swanky). It's part of the Leading Hotels of the World group -- when Lin visited Myanmar, one of their properties was the only hotel in Yangon that had 24 hour access to power. That's quality! Singles and doubles are $249 / night before tax and triples go for $269 / night. Email at hreservations@huttonhotel.com or call at (615) 340-9333. Refer to "Walker/Chen Wedding Block" when making reservation. The cut off for these preferential rates is February 27. This will be the second of two shuttle bus stops.

AirBnb in Nashville

TN

If you prefer something on the homier side or are traveling with a large group, we think AirBnb is an excellent option in Nashville. We've stayed in quite a few ourselves in various neighborhoods over the past few months and have yet to encounter a crazy host with too many cats. Here are a few areas that we've stayed in or visited and have loved: The Gulch, Music Row, Germantown, 12South, SoBro (South of Broadway). Generally, we find that you can score nice 1-2 bedroom standalone options for $200 or less a night.
