We first met while bowling in Calgary, thanks to Kelsey’s brother, Bryce. Kelsey was on her way to Victoria for her very first Lab & X-ray Technologist contract and had stopped in Calgary to visit Bryce and his wife, Meghan, with her friend Brette (and her cat, Joey, of course). Bryce suggested they all go bowling and mentioned he’d invite his friend “Hugz.” Kelsey had heard that nickname many times before, but this was finally her chance to put a face to the name. From the moment they met, Koltan was smitten. Coincidentally, his sister Kourtney and her fiancé Morgan had just moved to Victoria - which meant Koltan had the perfect excuse to visit. He made the trip soon after, and he and Kelsey spent time exploring Victoria together before she continued on with her travel contracts. After a year of dating long distance, Koltan joined Kelsey on her next set of contracts, and together they lived in Nanaimo, Penticton, and Fernie. Their favorite stop was Penticton, where they loved spending sunny days at the beach and visiting local wineries. After two years of travel, Kelsey was ready to settle down in Calgary - the city where it all began.

This past June, Koltan and Kelsey returned to Penticton - one of their favourite places - for a getaway with family and friends. Joining them were Koltan’s parents, Ian and Irene, his sister Kourtney and her fiancé Morgan, and their close friends Arliss and Kaitlyn. During a wine tour, after a lovely lunch on the Poplar Grove terrace, Koltan led Kelsey down to the lawn overlooking Okanagan Lake and the Naramata Bench. With the sun shining over the vineyards and the water below, he got down on one knee and asked Kelsey to spend forever with him. It was the easiest “yes” of her life.
