We met at a small local gym in Yantic, CT. Keesen was preparing for the upcoming soccer season at Saint Anselm and Kelsey was preparing for the upcoming track season at Westfield State. Keesen saw Kelsey out of the corner of his eye & approached her saying, “Hey, I think I know you.” Keesen definitely didn’t know Kelsey but it was the only pick up line he could think of. Kelsey responded matter-of-factly, “No, I don’t really think we do.” Keesen nervously tried to save himself at that point asking if Kelsey played any sports and then stating that we must know each other from running track for NFA/East Lyme (Kee never ran track in High School..). The gym day ended with Keesen asking Kelsey for her number and Kelsey respectfully declining. Looking very disappointed and sad, Kelsey told Keesen that he could have her number if we saw each other at the gym again the next day. Sure enough, when Kelsey walked into the gym the next morning, Keesen was there waiting (he swears he hadn’t been there all day waiting for me). Keesen again asked Kelsey for her number and this time she gave it to him (yes, she gave him the right number). From there, we went on our first date at Two Brother’s Pizza in Salem, CT. Margherita pizza, French fries and water (surprisingly, Keesen didn’t order a beer/Budweiser because Kelsey was still only 19 years old & didn’t want to risk using her fake ID at the only pizza shop in Salem). After that first date, Keesen went back to Saint Anselm and Kelsey went back to Westfield State. Over the next year, Kelsey (rudely) ignored Keesen until the next Summer of 2012 when Keesen and Kelsey reconnected & he finally asked her to be his girlfriend on August 9, 2012 at Sunset Rib’s (celebrating our beauty sister Kayleen’s birthday). Eight years and three kitties later, we couldn’t imagine living without each other so we’re GETTING MARRIED! We are excited for this next chapter & for all to celebrate with us!
