In the summer of 2021, Kelsey was getting ready to move from DC to Charlotte to be closer to her family. Meanwhile, Josh was recently single and living in Richmond. As they were both going through these transitions, their mutual friends, Tyler and Kylene Bowman, invited them each on a Fourth of July trip to Charleston with a group of friends. Kelsey, busy with packing for a move, was reluctant to go away for the weekend. She called her dad for his advice and he said “Kels, you only live once. Go have fun with your friends.” So, she accepted the invite and made plans to roadtrip down to Charleston with Jessica and James, who are now her soon-to-be in laws. On the way down, James decided to make some calls, as he loves to do. One of those calls was to Josh to convince him to come on the trip, since he was still undecided at that point. By the end of the call Josh was sold on the weekend away and was about to start his own drive down. Once everyone made it to Charleston, it was a weekend full of fun in the sun. Josh and Kelsey had a chance to spend a lot of time together and found there was an instant connection. Josh wanted to make sure he had a chance to see Kelsey again in the future, so he jumped in on some plans he overheard her making with Tyler to go see Chris Stapleton the next month. Through this move he also got Kelsey’s number and they haven’t gone a day without talking since then. I’m sure you now how the story goes from here; Josh and Kelsey continue getting to know each other from afar for a while; Josh makes trips up to DC and then down to Charlotte until they ultimately move in together in their first apartment in Charlotte.
