Our journey began on a summer evening at a Music on the Water event on Long Lake. We were introduced by Jake’s mom, Lisa — a simple introduction that would change everything. From the very beginning, something just felt right. Jake says he knew Kelsey was the one almost instantly. From the day we met, he began praying about her — every single day. After just two weeks of spending time together and getting to know each other, Jake asked Kelsey out on June 9th, 2023. We quickly realized this wasn’t just a summer connection — it was something deeper, something meant to last. Our love has grown with purpose, faith, and a sense of peace that we’re exactly where we’re meant to be — together. We can’t wait to start this next chapter of our lives, and we’re so excited to celebrate it with all the people we love most.

Jake had planned a special weekend visit while Kelsey was at school — and even though he tried to keep it a surprise, Kelsey had a feeling something was up (let’s just say Jake isn’t the best at keeping secrets… and Kelsey is very nosey). What she didn’t know was exactly how it would happen. Thinking she was just heading out for ice cream, Kelsey got ready — just in case — and found herself on a spontaneous drive to Saugatuck. The location alone tipped her off that something was happening… Dressed up and full of nervous excitement, Kelsey sprinted down the beach trail at Saugatuck State Park, heart pounding for more reasons than one. As she reached the end of the trail, she saw Jake — standing there with roses, champagne, a picnic basket, and a photo arrangement that read: “It was always you.” Through the sweat, the smiles, and the tears, Jake got down on one knee and asked the question that would change everything. And of course — Kelsey said yes.
