In 2016, Kelsey was lucky enough for her Dad to take her on a missions trip to Dominican Republic. Kelsey being in her terrible teens, he was probably trying to straighten her out! (Little did he know that bringing her there really did straighten her out, eventually). Enter Isael (a real cutie) at the bottom of a 2.5 hour mountain hike. He introduced himself as the group’s translator. After about 10 minutes, Kelsey noticed that Isael was straggling, and clearly not interested in walking the rest of the way to the top. Soon after that he managed to hitch a ride the rest of the way when a truck passed by. Guess who thought that was kind of cute and funny…… (Kelsey) Guess who tried to be near him all the time after that? (Kelsey). After stealing a smooch on a rooftop that was very much prohibited at the time, a few hours of marveling at him translating, Isael climbing a tree to get Kelsey a guava, and some other lovely memories… a very long and patient relationship began to unfold. We endured seemingly endless flights between Florida, Canada, and the DR, many tears from missing each other, and a lot of awesome memories along our way here. We are so glad you can come to see us tie the knot officially after all this time.
