Kelsey and Grant crossed paths for the first time during the holiday season of 2016. On a chilly January night, the pair got to know one another over tacos and margaritas at a favorite restaurant of his, Tequila Mockingbird in New Canaan, Connecticut. Grant too soon returned to his Army base in Texas, but the couple decided to build their romance through countless texts, phone calls and FaceTime dates until they could meet again. Over the course of the next few years, they traveled for long weekends and holidays, cherishing every moment they could spend together. Finally, in 2019, Kelsey found herself living in Austin, and Grant moved to Dallas. Although still four hours apart, the two were excited to be within driving distance and were able to spend most weekends together. On May 20th, 2021, Grant welcomed Kelsey home from her visit to Connecticut with a home-cooked dinner. With an engagement ring in his pocket, nerves started to kick in and Kelsey picked up on the strange energy in the room. After some teasing and pressure to open up about what was on his mind, Grant dropped to one knee and asked Kelsey to spend her life with him, to which she emphatically agreed. Kelsey wasn't the only one to feel the shift in energy. Their dog, Zoey was equally excited, showing her approval by jumping all over the couple and giving kisses throughout the proposal. In August of 2021, Kelsey, Grant and Zoey leapt at an opportunity to get out of the Texas heat, and relocated to the Indianapolis area, finally ending the long-distance chapter of their relationship. The next stop on their journey, brings them, and all of their favorite people to Newport, Rhode Island on July 7th, 2023.
