At this hotel, there are so many activities to do! Enjoy a spa day at the Spa and Wellness Center, break a sweat at the Tennis and Pickleball courts, rent kayakes, bikes, or grab a cocktail at one of the poolside bars for some R&R.
Right over the causeway bridge is Sanibel Island. Kelsey and her family have been going here for years and years (and part of why we chose to get married down here). In late 2022, Sanibel was hit by devastating Hurricane Ian, which damaged a lot of the island's businesses. Sanibel has beautiful beaches and is known for their shelling. As the island rebuilds, more of the businesses and restaurants are opening back up. Some of our favorites: -Lighthouse Cafe (breakfast - gotta have some hotcakes!) - Cielo Restaurant (Italian + Seafood - dinner) - Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille - Sanibel location (tropical vibes) - Island Pizza & Sweet Melissa’s Cafe - The Mucky Duck (if you make your way towards Captiva Island) - Pinocchio’s Original Italian Ice Cream (favorite ice cream spot) - Sanibel Cafe - The Magic Bus Ice Cream and Caffeine - Timbers Restaurant & Fish Market
For the golfers, a few recommendations: -The Dunes Golf + Tennis Club: 949 Sand Castle Rd, Sanibel, FL 33957 -Shell Point Golf Club: 17401 On Par Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33908 -The Club at Pelican Preserve: 9802 Pelican Preserve Blvd. Fort Myers, FL 33913 **Never fear, Brendan will do further research on additional courses.
Waterfront restaurant for some great seafood!
Right next to the Sanibel Marriot -- massive indoor/outdoor tiki restaurant with tropical cocktails + live music
J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, on the subtropical barrier island of Sanibel in the Gulf of Mexico along Florida’s west coast, is part of the largest undeveloped mangrove ecosystem in the United States. If you are traveling with kids, could be a fun way to see some wildlife such as alligators, manatees, etc.
