The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside on the lawn of the Whalehead Club - a historic 1920s mansion on the Currituck Sound (unfortunately we're not allowed inside). The reception will take place under a large tent in the same location. Given the ground will be grass and you will be walking, we recommend you do not wear stiletto heels (wedges and flat soled shoes will be much better!)
We'd love for you to get dressed up! Think semi-formal/cocktail party attire - i.e. dresses/jumpsuits for women (colors encouraged1!) and a suit & tie for men.
September is typically the most beautiful month in the Outer Banks! Barring any hurricanes (please send us all the good vibes!), the average high daily temperature on the Outer Banks in September is 79º and the low is 68º, and the ocean should still be warm enough to swim!
As much as we LOVE your kids, we'd like this to be an adults-only evening (and for you to enjoy you to enjoy a hard earned night off!) That said, we unfortunately cannot accommodate guests under age 13, outside of immediate family and infants. However, your kids are more than welcome to join the Friday night Welcome Party! We appreciate your understanding! Below is a list of local babysitting services, all recommended by local vacation home rental agencies: -OBX Endless Summer Childcare -Coastal Childcare -Shoreline Sitters -OBX Island Childcare
Our celebration is RSVP only and we will only be able to accommodate those listed on your wedding invitation. Thank you for understanding!
Yes! We'll have a variety of different food available, including gluten free and vegetarian options. There will also be an open bar throughout the evening.
Unfortunately none of the local hotels allow official "room blocks" but we were able to get discounts at several hotels. Please carefully review the Travel section for details and recommendations. The Hampton Inn is our recommended option due to its proximity to the various weekend event and its Oceanfront location.
Absolutely! We'll be spending the week in the Outer Banks and are planning on hosting a Beach Day on Thursday and Welcome Party on Friday. The OBX is an AMAZING vacation spot so we encourage you to extend your trip as long as possible!
Yes! There is plenty of complimentary parking onsite, but please note it is a little bit of a walk across grass to the ceremony site, so we recommend you keep the stilettos at home.
We will be renting a shuttle to safely transport guests to and from the venue from several key pickup/drop-off spots between Corolla and Duck. Since people will be staying in different places across the island, if you have someone in your group who can be a designated driver, we recommend you drive your own car to avoid you having to wait! Please note that Ubers/Lyfts are extremely limited in the Outer Banks, especially late night. PLEASE REACH OUT TO KELSEY (661-645-4316) ASAP IF YOU NEED TRANSPORTATION!
