We were introduced by my sister, Amy, and her boyfriend at the time (now husband), John. Pat and John became friends coaching volleyball together. After meeting Amy, Pat decided that since she was so cool and fun, she must have some single friends that are cool and fun, so he asked her to set him up. Amy accepted the challenge, but went a step past a friend set-up, straight to an immediate family set-up. We had our first encounter at a party at the house John used to live in with his friends. We acted like it wasn't a set-up even though we both knew it was. We stuck by each other the entire night and we've been together ever since. And Amy and John couldn't be more proud of themselves for bringing us together. -K
We planned a weekend trip to Philadelphia to celebrate our birthdays (mine is February 11th and Pat's is February 12th). The first night, we went to dinner near Independence Hall. As we were leaving Pat suggested we walk to the park by the Liberty Bell just to look around. It was freezing, but we went anyway. We looked in at the Liberty Bell, then walked through the park and I actually said, not knowing what was about to come, how romantic it was. Moments later Pat got down on one knee and I blurted out a very unromantic, "What are you doing?!" It took a few seconds, but I was finally able to form the word "Yes!" Then, we basically spent the rest of the night smiling at each other. -K
