Will and I were at a small get together to hear the testimony of a couple friends from our bible study group. After they had shared he and I were sitting on the couch talking and had been for a couple of hours when I realized, "Is he flirting with me? Oh my gosh he is! Have I been flirting back? *runs hand through hair smiling* Oh my gosh! I've been flirting!" And we kept talking for another hour or so before the get together wound down and we found ourselves in the kitchen, still talking. Where I, William, was having an internal argument with God who was telling me to just ask her out, I was nervous but He kept saying, "Do it! You've got nothing to lose!" So I said "Screw it! I'm gonna ask her." "Would you let me take you to dinner?" he asked. "I think that would be nice." I managed to calmly reply despite my inner and uncharacteristic giddy squealing. "Can I walk you to your car?" I managed to say yes to that too, and my friend Nina, who had ridden with me, and I were escorted to my car. As we buckled our seat belts I turned to her and said, "Nina, I'm going on a date with Will Hedgepeth." Chaos and excitement ensued. On January 22nd Will picked me up at my apartment and took me to dinner. It was a great first date and it's been history ever since.
