Sitting at a table of new friends soon after their arrival in Ethiopia, Noah told one of his classic jokes. He was sure everyone would laugh. Only Annie did. She couldn't help it - she thought he was funny. For Noah, the joke was a success. The most important person at the table had laughed and that's all that mattered. On the days they weren't waking up at 5am to catch the 5 hour bus to Debre Birhan to see each other, Noah and Annie would spend all their limited phone money talking late into the night. Long distance and limited time together did not stop their love from growing. Noah was so confident that he invited himself on the Kelly sibling vacation to Morocco only six months into their relationship (thank goodness they liked him!). 3 continents, 10 countries, 5 years, and an untold number of day trips to gardens, parks, and forests later, Annie is still rolling her eyes and laughing at Noah's (classic!) jokes. Noah continues to decide if his jokes are funny based on an audience of one. Now that they are back in Annie's beloved Midwest, they are ready to start their next adventure! And they can't wait to find out where in the world it takes them next!
