It was a beautiful & warm Saturday in November 2024. Penn State was playing Ohio State at 10am MST, so I (Kelly) organized some friends to meet up at a bar to watch the game together. Originally, we planned to go to the Penn State bar in Denver, but last minute decided to go to a more low-key place where we were guaranteed a table. Little did I know that was the best decision I could have made, because as soon as I walked into the bar I met Garrett. After a disappointing Penn State loss, our group decided to head to another bar. Emily (one of my Maid of Honors) strongly urged/suggested Garrett to join us when he got off work. Shortly after, Garrett showed up at the next bar (Lakeview Lounge), where he strategically won over all of my friends before making his move. The group started to dwindle throughout the day and by the end, there were only a few left, including Garrett & I. We hit it off over several topics of conversation and ended up as the last two standing. We really covered every subject under the sun, uncovered small world coincidences, discussed common places, and ended the night dancing outside waiting for the Ubers. We both grew up on the East Coast, Garrett in Connecticut and I in Pennsylvania and both eventually moved to Denver. One of the "coincidences" was that Garrett knew of the town where my family's cabin was growing up. It's in Potter County, PA - a small town called Galeton, where the population is less than one thousand. It is one of my favorite places in the world, so when he mentioned Galeton, I was shocked!! Garrett waited a few days (again, strategically) to reach out and plan our first official date (Zuni Street Brewery & the Colorado Avalanche hockey game). After the first date, Garrett dropped me of at the airport for a three week trip that had already been planned before we met for business and fun. When I returned, he picked me up from the airport, took me to dinner, and we've been together ever since! On March 16, 2026 Garrett recreated our first date. This time, it began with a nice dinner at home, wine, and our favorite tunes. I was plating our food when he turned on our go-to music choice for dancing in the kitchen. I was choking back tears. He did a great job of trying to throw me off all night. After dinner, we went to the hockey game. By the end of the hockey game I thought it was over - no proposal & it was just a decoy to confuse me. On our walk back to the car, he found the spot where he kissed me on our first date, pulled me to the side, got down on one knee and said "I actually do have a question to ask you". By this point, I didn't believe it was actually happening. After quite a few moments of shock, I said yes!
