Guests should definitely wear a top, bottom, and shoes. It is rare that we (Brian & Kellye) get dressed up, and many of us have been wearing stretchy pants during the pandemic, so it would be awesome to be a little fancy and have our guests dress up with us.
The ceremony will be indoors at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Not knowing the state of the pandemic in March 2022, right now we will ask that all guests wear a face covering properly during the ceremony—covering your nose & mouth, not as a chin guard or neckwarmer. We will provide updates here as the state of the pandemic fluctuates in Bexar county.
Absolutely! We love the buddy system and will include a space for that on the RSVP card.
While we do really like kids, your children may not even know us and not find sitting through a ceremony & reception to be their version of a good time. Some of your children have hung out with us at church, family events, or birthday parties and would appreciate being a part of our day. Talk to your partner & children about what you think everyone would enjoy the most. Don’t forget to notate that on the RSVP card.
Service animals are welcome, but other pets should stay at home.
The reception will be indoors at The Club at Garden Ridge. There are outdoor areas for lawn games, socializing, and cocktail hour.
Again, not knowing the state of the pandemic in March 2022, right now we will ask that all guests wear a face covering if they are unvaccinated during the reception unless actively eating or drinking. We plan to use air purifiers throughout the reception hall as well. If you are not comfortable eating indoors with unvaccinated guests nearby, let us know and it may be possible to set up dining space outdoors on the patio for select families. We will provide updates here as the state of the pandemic fluctuates in Bexar county.
Our venue coordinator explained there will be adequate signage of where to go for parking on the big day. The venue is part of a neighborhood HOA clubhouse (pool, workout center, et cetera). There is minimal parking in the front when you pull up, but that space is designated for guests with limited mobility and for other vendors who will be in and out getting everything ready. We have been assured there will be ample parking for all our guests.
There is a designated smoking area—exit the reception hall & go to the right of the building. This would best be utilized for legal substances. For recreational drug use, it's best to keep that at home and celebrate later!
Alcohol will be provided for guests—select beer, wine, and perhaps champagne for toasts and feeling fancy. Please do not bring outside alcoholic beverages into the reception—that is a no-no at this venue.
Great news: we have family members in this circumstance as well and are already thinking in that direction. When we visit with caterers, we plan to ask these questions. Contact us ahead of time to make us aware of any restrictions or requirements we may not know about. Also, don’t forget to notate that on the RSVP card!
If donating to our causes as a wedding gift is not your love language, get in touch with us to share an alternate gift idea that DOES suit your love language. Remember: we are not 20-year-olds just starting out on our own. We have 3,600 square feet of possessions between the two of us that need to be pared down significantly.
We’d love to hear your ideas! Contact either of us to share your shares.
You should definitely share your concerns with us. We have been extremely COVID-conservative during the pandemic and are trying our best to plan in a conservative way that would put our guests at ease. When we chat one-on-one and understand your concerns, we can try to find solutions that will work for everyone. The best way to make sure all guests are comfortable is to make sure everyone in attendance is vaccinated (even children as soon as they are eligible).
Yes, yes, yes! We have been getting regular testing for free in San Antonio & New Braunfels as a preventative measure for months even though we are vaccinated. We can give you information about free testing in the San Antonio area.
Everyone invited is someone we would love to celebrate with and is a special part of our lives. It is our goal to make sure families with children who are not eligible for vaccines feel safe attending our wedding. Here are some things you can do to help make sure all guests feel comfortable and still celebrate with us: - wear a mask properly indoors at the ceremony - wear a mask properly indoors at the reception unless actively eating or drinking - get a negative COVID test result directly before the wedding

While we briefly toyed with the idea of selling both houses and moving to Seattle, since we want to be close to our parents, and all 4 of them live in San Antonio, we will live in Kellye’s house once we are married.
