Flight
Cancun International Airport is recommended. The airport is serviced by major carriers (United, American, Delta), discount carriers (Southwest, JetBlue, Spirit), and Mexican carriers (Aeromexico, Interjet). Flight durations from Chicago and LA are approximately four hours and five hours respectively. Upon arrival in Cancun you will go directly from the arrival gate to immigration processing. Travelers will be provided immigration & customs declaration forms on the plane and should fill them out during the flight. After the immigration process you will collect luggage and head towards the customs check point. At the customs check point luggage is searched on a random basis -- this line moves quickly and your luggage will likely not be checked. After passing through the customs check point there will be ATMs and bathrooms that we recommend taking advantage of -- this will be your last opportunity to use the bathroom and get cash before leaving the airport.
Travel Note
Prices on flights have fluctuated significantly in the last six months. As of 6/15/21, carriers have brought back <25% of the pre-pandemic schedule to Cancun. We anticipate prices will continue to fall as airlines add back capacity in the coming months. The Tulum area is easily accessible via walking, bike, or taxi. Public parking is limited. This is a small community of local and expat owners and is a safe area. Uber and Lyft are not available but taxis are everywhere. The price for a taxi to and from destinations on the Tulum Beach Road is approximately 80 - 120 pesos. The price for a taxi to destinations in Tulum Town is approximately 150 to 200 pesos. Always ask for the price and negotiate the fare before entering the taxi.

Rental Car
There are many rental car companies in the airport and via shuttle. We recommend any of the in-airport options. We have also had a good experience with Alamo via a quick shuttle There are other companies that publish low rates but have high, hidden fees. To avoid a bad experience, go with a known brand name of your choice and be prepared for a 30-45 minute process to get your car. We also recommend conducting a thorough walk-around inspection with the rental agent and taking pictures of the entire exterior of the vehicle prior to leaving the lot. The drive to Tulum is approximately two hours on the main highway. You will be driving through the resort zones of Cancun, past Playa del Carmen, and down to Tulum. The turn to the condo developments and beach corridor is immediately before downtown Tulum.
Hotel
There are various hotel options along the beach at various price points. The wedding events will be concentrated on the South end of Tulum Beach, however all hotels along the beach are walkable. When looking at distance, map from our rehearsal dinner venue (WILD). Please reach out if you have questions about any hotels or would like specific recommendations.
House Or Rental
The most economical way to stay in the Tulum area is renting a condo or house in the jungle area between Tulum downtown and the beach area. There is a spectrum of options from one bedroom apartments to six bedroom houses. All of these developments are new and specifically built as second homes / rental properties. We are happy to help individuals / groups not familiar with this booking process find an a rental to suit needs and budget. Accommodation pricing is often 20%-50% of the cost at the beach hotels.
House Or Rental
There are a number of private house and villa rentals available in the beach area of Tulum.
