Kelly and Stephen met in Greenville, North Carolina at one of the fine establishments they both frequented, 519. After hanging out in the same group of friends for a while, Stephen asked Kelly to go on a mystery date where he took her hiking - complete with music and peanut butter banana sandwiches.

In February 2018, Kelly was completing one of her bucket list items - running the Disney Princess Half Marathon. The race also happened to fall on her birthday, so she already knew it was a special year to run it. Kelly crossed the finish line and after getting her knees wrapped with ice and dodging the post-run celebrations, she finally met up with Stephen. At this point, Kelly realized that he found some friends during the race...both of their parents. It was at this moment Stephen got down on one knee and popped the question and Disney truly became "The Happiest Place On Earth.
