Kelly was grocery shopping with her mom at the local Shop Rite, where she spotted Rob working as a cashier. Her mom encouraged her to go back in to buy a box of Mallomars so that Kelly could talk to him. When Kelly went to checkout, Rob started a conversation with her, which made her pleasantly surprised. Kelly later asked her neighbor, who also worked at Shop Rite, if she knew Rob, and she sent Kelly his Instagram account. Kelly nervously requested to follow him. Then, Rob was the one who was pleasantly surprised and accepted the friend request. He sent her a romantic first message reading, "Are you the girl from Shop Rite?" The two hit it off and continued chatting via Instagram before exchanging numbers and eventually planning a first date. Little did the two 16 and 17 year olds know that their brief first exchange would lead to an eventual wedding!
