Our Adventure Story

Florida Atlantic University | Indian River Towers August 2014

Kelly and Reilly went an entire year living in the same building and never knew of each other's existence! Just when fate would deem all is lost we were given another chance. Kelly and Reilly met for the first time in the financial aid line, where their mutual friend Cori introduced them, and suggested they wait in the same line because they have the same last name. (She meant last letter, I guess we're taking her literally?) Kelly was a Resident Assistant in Indian River Towers with Cori, who was Reilly's friend from the previous year. Cori invited Kelly to a get together with some friends. Sure enough, Reilly comes along over with his roommates: Eric and Steve, with their favorite board game, Quelf! After a night of pizza and board games, we all became just about the best friends a college kid could ask for. Before long, Kelly and Reilly became more than friends through their shared love for 7/11 slurpees, playing ukulele, and late night talks on the beach. And that's where our story began.

A Polynesian Proposal

Disney 3/24

It all started with a magical weekend planned at Disney (Shocking) Kelly and Reilly were to celebrate their 5 year anniversary, and to mark the occasion, Kelly made reservations at the one and only Cinderella's Royal Table (A restaurant INSIDE the castle!) We felt like the coolest cats in the kingdom, and to show it, we went as dressed up versions of our favorite Disney duo, Aladdin and Jasmine (or rather, a dressed up Jasmine and a business casual Aladdin..see photos) After the most amazing meal in all the land, Kelly had finally thought we'd done it all at the Walt Disney World. It was time for Reilly to enter phase 2. Reilly suggested we take the monorail for a night cap at our favorite bar, Ohana at the Polynesian Resort. After a looooong monorail ride, an oblivious Kelly and ecstatic Reilly step up and order our drinks, to-go for a walk across the grounds. (The best part is that the long monorail ride was actually long and didn't just seem that way, so Kelly thinks we are on our way to the ferry heading back for fireworks) We make our way to the Polynesian's private beach just in time for the last boat to leave back for the magic kingdom (darn), so Reilly takes Kelly by the hand and leads her into the sand. It was time. HOLD MA DRINK He stops just shy of the bungalows facing the Seven Seas Lagoon. Lit only by tiki torch, he presents Kelly with the ring he sought out and couldn't imagine ever being intended for anyone else. He drops to his knee, and promises her a lifetime of happiness. After hugging, dancing, and tears of joy, Kelly and Reilly make their way back upstairs where we we're greeted by the restaurant. They already knew, and to help us shout it from the rooftops, we were met with cheering, loving wishes, and two glasses of Champaign. We toasted to our future as we admired the most memorable fireworks show of our lives.
