Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Philip Smith and Kelly Szafara
We love DC for so many reasons and we're excited to share some of our favorite places with you. Of course we recommend walking/running/biking the National Mall, seeing the monuments, and taking advantage of the free Smithsonian Museums. A few of our favorites are highlighted below...

National Gallery of Art

Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20565

The National Gallery of Art is a fantastic museum with an incredible variety of art. Philip's mom works here as a docent in her free time, so it is somewhere we love to visit!

Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum

1661 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20006

Smaller art gallery with fun craft and decorative art exhibits, right across from the White House.

National Portrait Gallery

8th St NW & G St NW, Washington, DC 20001

Kelly's favorite museum in DC. Take a moment to relax in the courtyard after viewing some beautiful art.

Spanish Steps

1725 22nd Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20008

Our favorite spot in our neighborhood, and where we got engaged!

Meridian Hill Malcolm X Park

W Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A lovely park close to our apartment - Mickie's favorite spot!

World War II Memorial

1750 Independence Avenue Southwest, Washington, DC 20024

Theodore Roosevelt Island

Washington, DC

If the weather is nice this is a great place to walk around with wooded paths. Parking access right off of George Washington Memorial Parkway between the Roosevelt & Key Bridges.

Boogy & Peel

1 Dupont Circle Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Our favorite pizza in the city. The Macha roni is our go to!

Gemini

1509 17th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20036

Tiny wine shop with a rotating menu of handmade pasta and one of our take out staples (we recommend any of the pizzas, and of course the ice cream!)

ChurchKey

1337 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

Where we went on our first date! A great beer selection and American small bites.

Your Only Friend

1114 9th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20001

Restaurant and cocktail bar with fantastic sandwiches. They also have a takeout counter if you want to picnic on the mall.

Old Ebbitt Grill

675 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20005

A DC institution right next to the White House with great food. Stop by for oysters and a glass of wine.

The Green Zone

2226 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A fun bar with middle eastern cocktails and food! One of our favorite bars in the city.

Exiles Bar

1610 U Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009

A classic pub right down the street from our apartment. It's become a staple of ours as they host large watch parties for both Liverpool and Penn State Football, a match made in heaven?

YELLOW

1524 Wisconsin Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20007

Some of the best baked goods in DC. There is a location in Georgetown and one near Union Market in Northeast DC.

La Tejana

3211 Mount Pleasant Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20010

A casual spot with tex-mex style breakfast tacos and a cocktail bar at night. Don't miss the jalapeno poppers.

For all the days along the way
