Kelly and Nick met in 2017 at the start of (you guessed it) the 49ers football season. Kelly began working for the 49ers while wrapping up college at UC Davis, while Nick was going on his third season with the team. They became friends over the course of the next three seasons including a trip to Super Bowl LIV in Miami, FL in February 2020. When the world came to a pause amidst the global pandemic, Kelly and Nick's friendship continued on with lots of walks, hikes, cocktail making and socially distanced drinking games. They quickly realized how much they enjoyed each other's company and continued spending more and more time together. Eventually, Nick took Kelly on a first date.

Nick and Kelly had a trip planned to Oahu. This would be the second time they went to the island so it had already become a special place. Nick planned an entire day on the North Shore with tickets to a Polo Match. Little did Kelly know there was a private beach behind the field that Nick had scouted out well in advance before their trip to Oahu. In between polo matches Nick suggested checking out the beach. Shortly after they arrived to the beach Nick got down on one knee and asked Kelly to marry her. It was the easiest yes! Despite the matching outfits, Kelly had no idea (a story for another time). There were tears of happiness, excitement and moments of shock. Nick being the planner he is had a photographer cued up and the perfect moment was captured. They finished their stay in Oahu with a surprise stay at the Aulani.
