The story of how Nick and I met falls under the cliché umbrella of ‘it happens when you least expect it.’ We were both in our junior year at ODU, but ran in different circles and didn’t know one another. Nick was a social butterfly, he knew everyone and was always right in the center of whatever social event was going on that week. I was a transfer, obsessed with getting straight As, and didn’t really go out all that much after getting my party fill out my freshman year at Radford. In March of our junior year, a friend of mine begged me to go on a spring break cruise with her and a group of people from ODU that she didn’t know that well. So, not knowing hardly anyone in the large group of people going on the trip, I got my friend Raven to also go with me and we started the 13 hour drive to FL. Unbeknownst to me, that out of the big group of people I was about to meet, one of them would be my future husband. When Nick and I met on the cruise, it was like talking to someone I’d known for years - things felt natural, easy, and I felt myself wanting more, wanting to talk with him more, wanting to get to know more about him, wanting to spend more time with him. We were drawn to each other on that cruise, a wild spring break cruise, that was meant to be a party getaway for the both of us. Our connection felt binding, so much so that when we got back to ODU, we couldn’t get enough of each other (while trying to play it cool of course) and got to spending as much time together as we possibly could. Since then, a light-hearted, carefree time that felt like we just fell into, we have experienced so much of life together, so much growth from being juniors in college with not a care in the world, to losing family members, figuring out careers, and buying a home together. Together, we’ve created a household that’s healthy for both of us as a couple and also as individuals, we've created a little family with Kona that brings both of us so, so much peace and a life that’s filled with joy and laughter. We are the loves of each others lives, each others "person," the perfect balance to one another, and feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to celebrate that with our wedding day and with all of you.
