Picture it..Rosh Hashanah 2021, I'm on a call with one of my many Jewish moms who is wishing me a happy new year, telling me that this needs to be the year of a marriage. Unbeknownst to her, I had just started talking to Kelly a few weeks prior. We hadn't said anything yet, but it did turn out to be the year of an engagement at least. It actually started on an AIPAC poker game one Tuesday night. Kelly mentioned to the group that she was recently single. Having been friendly for many years, I checked in to make sure she was OK; then (as Kelly tells it) a few more messages over the next few weeks led to a mutual decision that I'd make the trip to DC for her birthday. She says I was being flirty; I said I was just being southern...either way, 365 days later, we were engaged, and the rest as they say, is history. Well...actually, it's the future.
