It's funny because neither of us remembers the exact moment, but we met sometime in 2014 through mutual friends. We hung out several times throughout high school, but only in group settings. In fact we rarely talked to each other; but as fate would have it, we ended up at the same college, at the same building, at the same time. In 2017, James transferred from OSU Lima to the Columbus campus where Kelly was also going to school. One morning, Kelly was walking up the front steps of Hayes Hall for an 8am class when someone behind her said, "Kelly?" She turned around, and there he was. "James?" Maybe it was because she was happy to see a familiar face, or maybe it was because she had a crush on him- who knows!- but there was definitely a spark. James made the first move, and we went out for pizza and a movie that Friday night with some of his friends and family. Things were quiet for a little while after that, but Kelly needed rides to and from Columbus, so James was her go-to person. After several 2-hr drives, games of Friendo, and nights playing billiards in Drackett Tower (best out of 31 to be exact), we started dating on February 16, 2018. On July 24 (in a Wendy's parking lot of all places), we both said "I love you" for the first time. We spent all 4 college years together, and how blessed we are that God aligned our lives so perfectly. Our favorite memories together include trips to zoos, water parks, concerts, going on dog walks in the city, and having countless movie nights- during one of which Kelly told James he was the one. Fast forward to December 27, 2020, and Kelly was so anxious about the proposal that she basically asked James to propose after dinner at Texas Roadhouse. We drove as far as Bluffton before we pulled over and James got on one knee in front of a Christmas light display. We've been planning our wedding ever since, and we're so excited to celebrate with you. Thank you for all of the love and support throughout the years! -James & Kelly
