This Providence favorite is known for decadent, over the top donuts and changes their menu monthly. They are also known for long lines & sell out of flavors as the day goes on so if you plan to visit, consider ordering ahead or getting there early! Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Cliff Walk
A walk alongside the ocean that takes you past the opulent gilded age mansions of Newport. We walked this the first time we visited Rhode Island together!
Olneyville New York System
The original location for the classic Rhode Island "hot weiners." Get them "all the way" with coffee milk to drink for a true Rhode Island experience. Visited by the likes of Guy Fieri and Alton Brown!
Allie's Donuts
A popular RI donut spot if you prefer your donuts more classic and less experimental, like Jake. Last we checked this place is cash only so be prepared if you plan to visit!
Scarborough State Beach
It might be a bit chilly for beach-going in October, but it's worth the views. There's also some stone ruins which always add interest!

RISD Museum
In addition to their long-term collections, the RISD museum has rotating collections and student work (RISD is a premier design school). Admission is free on Sundays!
Bayberry Beer Hall
A rotating menu of craft beers, delicious food, and indoor greenery...what more could you ask for? This is in downtown Providence so parking can be a bit on the difficult side, but not impossible. And certainly worth it!
Fort Wetherill State Park
Beautiful ocean-side scenery and graffiti-covered fort ruins. This is a popular photo spot with locals!
Boneheads Wing Bar
We discovered them post-COVID so can't speak to their in-person dining experience, but this is our go-to wing place. There are MANY sauces to choose from, and none of them are boring.
Nacho Mami's Taco Shop
We've never actually gone inside but get it delivered fairly frequently. If you want a 3 pound burrito with three different kinds of meat...you can get one here.
