And boy is it a popular one! There is a street event the same day in downtown Christiansburg that is right at the same intersection as the church! Yay! But really we understand that this will be an inconvenience especially for parking. We plan to use Main Street for most of our parking and we may need to be creative about it. Please plan a little extra time to find your spot and be prepared to take directions upon arrival about where to park. If you have someone with limited mobility in your group you can drop them off in the church driveway before parking. Also since nearby parking may be limited we recommend carpooling if you can. At Smithfield there is a parking lot and we will be able to park in the grass as well. Again be prepared to take directions upon arrival as needed. And if you have someone with you with limited mobility there is parking for a few by the pavilion, just let us know so we can make sure there is a spot for you and we can tell you where to go.
We ask that you please do not take photos during the ceremony. In fact we would appreciate all phones to be turned off and tucked away. You can leave it in your pocket, purse, bag, or car. Our photographer will be capturing the day and we will share photos when we can. That being said at the reception you are free to take pictures and if you share them on socials tag us so we can see them too! You can also use the hashtag #TardyToTheParty61023
This will be a non smoking event. Smithfield plantation is a historical landmark and does not allow smoking on the premises. You can smoke in the parking lot or in your vehicle. We ask if you vape to please do so in the parking lot or away from the crowds just out of respect for those who do not vape or have a sensitivity to it. We want everyone to enjoy themselves and we hope everyone will be understanding of this.
Families, we are inviting everyone! But please be advised that the reception will be a party with uncensored music and adult beverages, that may not be a great environment for little little ones. Plus we want you to be able to stay and enjoy yourself. We love your little ones too and we will love to have them join, just be advised.
We put summer cocktail on the invites which has cause a little confusion. All it means is that we want everyone to dress up! But guys you do not have to wear a full suit, and ladies you don’t need a ball gown or anything glitzy (unless you want to!). We would appreciate though if everyone did dress up some. Please no jeans, or regulars T-shirts. We won’t turn you away but we want to be a little fancy. Let’s make it an occasion! Side note the reception space has gravel/pebble walkways and grass so maybe hold off on the stilettos too
