If you had ever told DJ or Kelly when they were younger that they would end up getting married someday, they would’ve called you crazy. They have known each other pretty much their entire lives, running into one another at Wanaque First Aid Squad events, where Kelly's aunt, Karen (the officiant), and DJ's grandma, Lois, volunteered together for over 40 years. Back in 2018, Kelly's sister, Kaitlyn, was expecting her first baby, Gianna. Kelly was in charge of planning the gender reveal and baby shower. Shortly after the gender reveal in July, DJ commented on one of Kelly's Instagram posts, "🖤." Fast forward to the baby shower in August, the two were flirting all day with a running joke that DJ had lost Gram's car keys. After the baby shower, Kaitlyn would harass Kelly about dating DJ, but Kelly would turn her down on the idea. Later on that month, Kelly was swiping on Tinder, and DJ's face showed up. Out of curiosity, she swiped right, and it was not only a match, but DJ had super liked Kelly! The two exchanged Snapchats and began to talk. One thing led to another, and they began dating on September 5, 2018.

Kelly and DJ quickly realized they were best friends and soulmates. Only after a month and a half of dating did they adopt their dog, Cooper. It was a risk to take with their short time of dating, but no one ever told them it was a bad idea. Cooper fit right into their family with his high energy and aggressive personality. In April 2019, Kelly moved in with DJ in the apartment that was part of his parent's house. DJ would play his video games and watch his football, while Kelly would sample her monthly fixation of hobby. Together, they would watch movies, play the occasional board game, and take weekend morning trips to try new bagel shops. The couple often went on weekend trips to DJ's family's property in Hebron, NY, and made their first trip down to Orlando, FL, in January 2021. Orlando quickly became their favorite place to be, specifically Universal. They have made the trip down 2-3 times each year since the first time they went.

On April 25, 2024, Kelly and DJ, along with his sister, Deanna, and her boyfriend, Mason, had arrived at their hotel to check in for their trip. Every other time they had gotten to the hotel before check-in, their room had been ready, but not this time. DJ was freaking out because he wanted to shower and shave before heading into the parks for the day. Kelly told him it would be fine and he could just do it when they got back later. She went into the lobby bathroom to change into shorts, and when she came back, DJ wasn't there. Deanna told her that DJ continued to "tism" out and took his shaving stuff into the hotel lobby bathroom. Kelly didn't think twice about it because it was totally something DJ would do. Once he was finished, the four made their way into the park to meet up with DJ's family, who live in Florida. After quick greetings, they went on one of the best rides in the park, Men in Black. Immediately after the ride, they went by their favorite spot to take pictures in front of the ride sign. While posing, DJ's parents, Diane and Danny, jumped out from behind the sign and handed DJ a little black box. DJ got down on one knee and asked Kelly to marry him. Before DJ could even finish the question, Kelly said yes! It was one of the best days of their lives, and the only day that will top that will be the day they get to celebrate with you!
