We cannot wait to see everyone in New Orleans in November, and are so excited to finally celebrate our wedding day with our family and friends! All the details you'll need will be added to the site, so check back for updates as we get closer! We can't wait!
It all began in Fall 2015, when Dexter moved down to New Orleans for work, and we were lucky enough to get recruited to the same volleyball league. After our first game, Dexter broke the ice with his smooth pick-up line – “so what does a petrophysicist do?” Over the next several months, we became close friends, but with Dexter’s year-long offshore assignment approaching, we weren’t sure what the future had in store. While offshore one night, Dexter couldn’t help but wonder what Kelly was up to, so he built up the courage to call her, and the rest is history. From then on, we spoke on the phone every day and instantly bonded over our love of traveling, all the places we’d been, and all the places we wanted to see. The next 3 years were filled with countless adventures. We have found our perfect travel and life partners in each other, always ready to plan our next journey. We’ve shared so many new experiences together, from teaching each other the ropes of winter sports and hurricane seasons to cheering on each other's football teams (and trying to keep the conference trash talk to a minimum). Over the years, we’ve never stopped making each other laugh and continue to fall more in love, and we’re so excited to begin our next adventure!
After secretly seeking the help of Kelly’s parents and best friend to plan the perfect proposal, Dexter picked his birthday trip to Portland as the time to pop the question. He thought of every detail, even getting a local photographer to take photos of the moment, convincing Kelly that the scenery of the Pacific Northwest would be perfect for Christmas card photos. On Saturday morning, we drove to the Vista House overlooking the Columbia River Gorge and met with the photographer. After an hour of posing (and officially crushing any suspicion Kelly had), our photographer led us to one last spot – a secluded outcrop with breathtaking views of the Columbia river. Dexter decided it was the perfect spot, gave the signal, and got down on one knee. Before Dexter could even get the whole question out, Kelly of course said yes! We spent the rest of the day exploring Portland and visiting a local brewery, where we got to watch LSU beat Alabama, solidifying November 9th 2019 as the BEST DAY EVER!
