Connor and Kelly both had the luxury of working the 9 pm to 1 am shift in the dish room of Berk Dining Hall at UMass Amherst. They met on Kelly's first day of work, Connor put the dirty dishes into the machine and Kelly took them out. Romantic, right? They became fast friends as they bonded over their mutual love of classic rock, dogs, and family back home. Connor made it clear that he had a crush on Kelly by asking her to his frat formal, and Kelly efficiently dodged his advances and kept him deep in the friend zone by saying she couldn't possibly miss the Timeflies Tuesday concert that weekend. (Give us a break, it was 2015, we are much cooler now) A year later, Connor would ask Kelly out again, and this time she said yes. However, Kelly had no idea this afternoon of walking their dogs together was technically a date, and when Connor asked to grab dinner on the way back, Kelly simply said "nah, I'm not hungry". Maverick and Duncan did not hit it off either, so it was probably for the best. Thankfully, Connor was persistent and tried again about two years later. Kelly said yes, again thinking it was just a casual hangout with an old friend and not exactly a date. They met for drinks at a Salem bar and talked about where they were in their lives now post-college, old times they'd shared, and of course, Kelly whipped out her phone and showed endless photos/videos of her nieces (some things never change). By the end of the night, Kelly had a sore throat from talking and laughing so much and had realized how much she could be completely herself around this boy, more than she was with anyone else. And Connor, well he was just happy he had finally gotten a date with his "dream girl" after almost three years of trying. The night ended when Kelly dropped Connor off at his condo in Salem, where he shockingly reached over and kissed her goodbye. Kelly drove home with her jaw dropped the entire time thinking "This was a DATE?!". The rest is history.
