We sincerely hope to have our wedding as planned on September 12th, however we are monitoring the situation carefully and taking precautions as necessary. Please check back here for any further changes or updates! Masks are highly encouraged and may be required during certain situations. Not just for your safety, but for the safety of our older and at risk friends and family as well. Extra masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer will be provided. The ceremony will be outdoors, and will be Live-streamed as well if you wish to celebrate with us from home. The Reception will be held in the Barn. Our vendors will be working hard to ensure we are as safe as possible. There are barn doors on each end that will reamin open, and ceiling fans to keep air flowing the best we can. Dinner and drinks will need to reamin at your assigned table, and tables will be at least 6 feet apart. We are looking in to options for limited outdoor seating as well. If you have recently traveled, been ill, or are at high risk for the recent illness, we kindly ask that you join us from afar.
Learning to live with anxiety, we both went to seek help at a mental health program called OSU Harding. We connected right away, and after we went through the program, we decided to hang out playing soccer and going to the movies. Our first official date was on this day a couple weeks later, when we went to the movies to see The Dark Knight Rises.
I knew through many experiences. One would be near the beginning, when I confessed that I liked her a lot while driving her home after a memorable night of dinner and a movie. Another experience would be when Kelly was having a rough patch in her life, so we took a long-weekend road trip to Florida in the middle of winter, to get some sun and nice weather. It was a lot of fun, but on the last day I got sun poisoning so bad I could not drive due to my feet swelling. So, Kelly had to drive all the way back home, which if you have ever been in a car with Kelly driving, you will know how scary that was for me. All jokes aside, I know she is the one because I can connect with her mentally like very few people I have met. My life would be so much less without her. I am so thankful for having someone so beautiful and caring in my life.
In some ways, I knew from the beginning. We were so comfortable and understood each other so well, it was like we had known each other forever. Over time, it was all the little things. How he was always there for me in every way, for anything big or small. How he listened to my every worry, helping me navigate through them. How just a smile, hug, or some simple words of encouragement from him can make any day a happy one. While admiring his strength and perseverance, he showed me my own. Cody never doubted and always encouraged my ability to be whoever I dreamed to be, while also insisting that who I was right now was more than enough. The night I truly knew he was the one, we were on a porch swing at a cabin in the woods, simply looking at the stars and listening to nature. I realized right there that home was no longer a place or a house, home was when I was with him.
Cody set up a Valentine's dinner at Rockmill Brewery Tavern. We had an amazing dinner filled with foods we had never tried before. We then went to one of our favorite spots to grab a beer, Wolf's Ridge Brewery. After taking an Uber home, Cody surpised Kelly with a cupcake from her favorite local bakery. Kelly kept saying she would eat it later, but Cody was determined. He opened it up and dug the ring out of the cupcake, got down on one knee and asked her "Will you marry me?". Kelly, with tears in her eyes and excitement in her voice, said "Yes! Of course! I almost thought you were not going to ask me tonight!" Kelly then laughed and happily ate the best cupcake she’s ever had.
We did things a little backwards! On this day we moved into our beautiful first home together.
