Seaside, Florida’s official motto is “A Simple, Beautiful Life”, and once you’ve spent time here you’ll understand why. In this New Urbanist town (the first of its kind) sandy paths twist and turn throughout Seaside, revealing hidden pocket parks, adorable shops, and casual food trucks. Beach walkovers were designed as gateways to the sea. In Seaside, which was more of a character in “The Truman Show” than a backdrop, time slows, allowing you to enjoy the white-sand beaches while unplugging from everyday life.
Rosemary Beach and WaterColor Resort both provide the convenience of beachside bars, gourmet bistros, and expertly designed neighborhoods along stretches of road leading to uncrowded beaches. Go for a laid-back bike ride with sweeping ocean views along the communities’ designated paths, or opt for a drive down 30A. Rosemary Beach may also have more lodging options, so be sure to include a golf cart rental if you book a place here.
Alys beach is a pristine planned community with stark white architecture and green open spaces throughout. The architects looked to the vernacular structures of Bermuda and Antigua, Guatemala to provide the inspiration for Alys Beach. Respectful of historical precedents while infusing contemporary insights, the homes and public buildings are simple white-washed masonry forms, white-tile rooftops and decorative profiles. It's a beautiful and unique community to visit.
Bud and Alley's is a Seaside staple with waterfront views. This has been one of our favorites spots for years. Great for lunch and drinks. Make sure you try the peel and eat shrimp and their signature bloody mary!
