Brad and Kelly met through a Facebook dating group. Both had come to the point where they weren't expecting to find love, but also weren't quite ready to give up hope. Kelly saw a post from Brad and immediately sent him a message. They began instant messaging everyday and set a date to meet up in person. Their first date was at an Applebee's near Kelly's house and they both knew that night that they had found their person.
On April 15, 2022, Brad and Kelly had a date to have sushi (their favorite) and hang out. Brad showed up at Kelly's house to pick her up with his hands behind his back. He presented her with flowers and a ring pop, asking her to be his girlfriend. Kelly teared up and said yes. And the rest is, as they say, history..
On the evening of June 17, 2022, Brad took Kelly to their favorite bar for karaoke. Kelly noticed that Brad was acting a little strange; keeping his hands in his pockets, not sitting by her at the bar, barely even holding her hand. After Brad brought down the house by singing a heavy metal song, they decided to call it a night and head for home... only Brad had other plans. He suggested the two take a walk for a little bit before going home. He brought Kelly to the Rum River Falls in downtown Anoka and after changing spots several times, the two settled on the perfect seat to watch the water. Eventually, Brad stood up in front of Kelly and said "I have something to say and it's going to hurt me more than it hurts you." Kelly immediately asked (half joking) "are you breaking up with me?" He responded with "no, you'll see why it's going to hurt me" and got down on one knee, and took out a ring box. He looked in her eyes and said "I was wondering if you wanted to marry me." Kelly swears she immediately said yes without even seeing the ring, but Brad says she didn't give an answer for a few minutes, eventually saying "Would you answer the question?!" She said yes and the planning started from there.
