Our first date fell on the longest day of the year. Had we believed in fate, we might have thought that the sun was gifting us every moment possible to recognize "this is the one." In reality, fate had very little to do with it. As Ben so simply expressed a few weeks later, "I want to date you for a really long time." We chose each other. We chose each other through a global pandemic, several job changes, graduate school (woof), law school (WOOF), moving across states, through personal tragedies, and personal triumphs. We chose each other because no one can make Ben laugh like Kelly can. Because Ben is the only person who can predict exactly how cold Kelly will be in any given outdoor venture, and will bring an assortment of jackets accordingly. Because we both take the daily New York Times puzzles far too seriously. Because the coffee we share on Sunday mornings together, we swear, is the best in the world. Because even when the path ahead feels daunting, we know we can navigate forward together. We choose each other, and we want to make it permanent. We hope you can come to the celebration.
